Easter Painting blog

At the bottom left of the painting is the dark cave– Joseph of Arimethea’s tomb where Christ was laid after his crucifixion.

Red, symbolizing the work of the Holy Spirit, moves around and within the tomb.

Then, moving upwards, white light bursts out from the tomb, joining bits of gold and yellow as Heaven and Earth rejoice in the resurrection of Jesus from death to life.

The white also moves back down through the painting, representing both Christ’s deity and his humanity, his transcendence and immanence, God incarnate.

Death has been removed.
